What is autoblogging, and which kind do you need?

Autoblogging is software that writes blog posts and publishes them to your site, with as little of your time as you choose. The word used to mean something else: scripts that copied other sites' posts from their RSS feeds. Google's spam policy names that directly, as scraping feeds "to generate many pages".

Today the word covers three kinds of software. Feed plugins copy other sites' posts. AI writers draft a post you paste into your CMS. Autoblogging tools research, write and publish on their own. This page compares only the third kind.

Within the third kind, the useful split is how much of you goes in. Some tools start from a keyword and need nothing else. Some read your documents. ACME.BOT asks you questions before it writes.

“Back in the day, autoblogging is really all about stripping content from auto RSS feeds … You buy tons of domains … you deal with dead or banned sites as they pop up.”

— BlackHatWorld member, · source

Is autoblogging safe for SEO?

Google asks for AI content to be reviewed before it's published, and flags many pages made "without adding value for users" as possible spam.

Google doesn't ban AI content. Its guidance on generative AI says two things an autoblogger has to plan around: generating many pages "without adding value for users" may break its spam policy on scaled content abuse, and AI content should be fact-checked and reviewed before it's published.

Most users who discuss it say raw, auto-published AI posts get buried, and some credit their best posts to their own ideas. We found no controlled test of reviewed against raw posts.

Link exchanges are a separate risk. Google's link-spam policy lists "excessive link exchanges" and links created by "automated programs or services". Arvow, Outrank and RightBlogger run one.

No tool makes a post safe. What a tool can do is give you a place to add value before it writes, and a place to stop it before it publishes. That is what this page judges.

“It is critical to manually factcheck and review all AI-generated content for accuracy and trustworthiness before publishing.”

— Google Search Central, "Using generative AI content", · source

“If you must let AI do all the work and auto publish, Google will tank your website. It's a waste of time”

— Reddit, r/Wordpress, · source

“My best performing ideas have come from me and written with the help of AI.”

— Reddit, r/Blogging, · source

What should you check before an autoblogging tool publishes for you?

Before an autoblogging tool publishes for you, check five things: what goes into a post, where you can stop it, where it publishes, whether it adds other people's links to your site, and what a post you'd actually publish costs.

01

What goes in before it writes

ACME.BOT interviews you before it writes; Arvow and Autoblogging.ai read documents you upload, Koala AI builds a knowledge base from your business, and Frase learns from your published pages and the rules you type.
02

Where you can stop it

Almost every tool here lets you approve a post before it's published. ACME.BOT (topics, outline), Koala AI (content plan), Arvow (keyword calendar), SEObot (headlines), Byword (topics) and Autoblogging.ai (the research it pulls, in Godlike mode) let you stop it before it writes.
03

Where and how it publishes

Check that it supports your CMS, whether it can publish as a draft, and how it handles several sites.
04

Other people's links on your site

A backlink exchange places links between customers' sites. Google's link-spam policy lists "excessive link exchanges"; Domain Rating is Ahrefs' score, not Google's. A tool should let you leave it off.
05

The cost of a post you'd actually publish

Read the price with monthly billing, count what a post costs in credits or words at the quality you'd use, and add your editing time. Then read the refund and cancel terms before you pay.

How do autoblogging tools compare?

Autoblogging tools differ on price a month and a post, posts included, whether it interviews you, where you approve, where it publishes, link exchanges, free trials and user ratings.

Can't you just autoblog with ChatGPT or Claude?

You can autoblog with ChatGPT or Claude and a script that posts to your CMS. Then you build the rest the tools sell: research, a scheduler and a place to review.

Most users weighing cost say a chat plan or a DIY pipeline is enough; one r/AI_Agents user who wanted to review before posting called that setup "a mess".

If you won't build that review step, pay for a tool that has one.

“Don't fall for any of the writing tools. They are overpriced. Instead use ChatGPT with good instructions and prompts.”

— Reddit, r/Blogging, · source

How do you test an autoblogging tool before it touches your site?

To test an autoblogging tool safely, connect it in draft mode, give it keywords you'd publish anyway, time your edits, publish a handful, and watch indexing before you raise the pace.

  1. Connect in draft mode. Nothing goes live until you've read it. Every tool here except Autoblogging.ai describes a review step before publishing.
  2. Give it keywords you'd publish anyway, so you're judging the writing, not the topic picker.
  3. Time your edit. Count the minutes from draft to a post you'd sign. That time, plus the plan price, is the cost.
  4. Check every claim and link. Google asks for a fact-check.
  5. Publish a few and watch Search Console for indexing and impressions over the following weeks.
  6. Read the cancel and refund terms before the trial ends, and cancel in writing if the app has no button.
  7. Only then turn on a schedule. Raise the pace after the first posts are indexed, not before.
